This fosters resentment
I think a big problem of mine is that I refuse to accept that most people actually enjoy things they claim to enjoy. My suspicion is that they are either operating through a few layers of detachment or that they are so deep into some demimonde[1] that they can’t see the forest for the trees. Like if you were in some Shakespeare class and you actually started laughing at jokes that would require ten minutes of explanation to people who aren’t living in Elizabethan England.
